TuneUp Software for a Windows PC has always been a hot topic for a number of reasons:
- Windows is an overgrown beast
- Microsoft has never been known for efficient program code
- Windows self corrupts over time (with help from poor quality 3rd party programs)
- What Intel giveth (in processor speed) Microsoft has a habit of soaking up like a sponge (ie, taketh away)
Buying more hardware to make Windows faster is an expensive and not always viable option (what do you do when you have already bought the best?)
So what you are left with is asking how to tune up the Windows computer you have.
2 Ways To Tune Up Your Windows Computer
Once you decide you are fed up enough with a slow computer and finally decided to do something about it, there are essentially 2 ways you can go about trying to tune up your Windows installation to try to get some more speed out of it and spend less time looking at the stupid hourglass.
- First, you can dig through endless websites and 800 page books you may have lying about and tweak every little aspect of Windows yourself; a daunting task for even an expert. Please tell me you backed up first and then documented all the changes you made so you can do them again when you eventually have to reinstall Windows.
- Second, you can trade a few dollars from your wallet in exchange for countless hours of your time – not to mention frustration – and buy a reasonably priced piece of software to do the job for you – automatically!
Personally, my time is too valuable to try method #1 above, so I am continuously in search of worthwhile programs I can buy for few bucks to do the job for me.
Recently I started to take a look at TuneUp Utilities. (15 day free trial)
TuneUp Utilities does quite a few things in addition to speeding up your PC and tuning Windows for better performance; but I consider those just icing on the cake.
What most people want first and foremost is a faster PC!
