The Linksys (Cisco) WAP4410N Wireless-N Access Point is my choice for adding high speed, reliable, WiFi access to my business client’s networks.
We use the WAP4410n because of its ability to provide excellent coverage over a large office area with multiple floors and many obstructions.
Data security is paramount, and the Linksys (Cisco) WAP4410n provides the highest level of WiFi security currently available.
Inexpensive WiFi access points have a tendency to give poor coverage and an unreliable signal and connection. The QoS connection provided by this wireless access point is solid enough and fast enough for streaming video; increasingly important in today’s office environment.
One of the cool things about this WAP is the PoE (power over ethernet) capability. Just make sure you have 802.3af compliant PoE power provided by your network switch or through a compliant PoE injector. This way you can mount the WAP4410n anywhere you can get an ethernet cable to (within distance limits) and not have to worry about having surge protected or battery backup 110v power available.
You may want to mount the WiFi access point high up on a wall or even above a drop ceiling where there is no wall outlet available, let alone the additional surge protection or battery backup required.
Sometimes you get what you pay for and when looking for a business class WiFi access point the more expensive WAP4410n wireless access point from Cisco Linksys is worth the money.
Below you will find a video introduction I have done and later I hope to add a configuration screencast showing how easy it is to setup this WAP4410n and add reliable WiFi access to your network quickly, easily and securely.

hi,
I have 2 linksys wireless routers(older models) and I need to get internet in a room threw wireless and one of the routers to be used as a access point? or bridge them? I been thinking there has to be some way to use a wirless router to connect to my other wireless router. If not, im gonna have to get a card or something.
thanks
Marshall

There are routers that do that, the question is how much effort and how reliably.
Might want to consider powerline adapters.
The new ones are better than ever, plug them in and you’re done. Connect a WiFi router (without using the routing) and you have a small switch plus WiFi access point.

Hi,
My name is mark. I am planning to purchase this unit as an access point to my Cisco e4200 router, so that the range will be extended and more users may connect. The only doubt I have is that in the place where I am going to use it, I can’t connect the unit to Poe cable , I mean that only power cable can be connected . Is there a way to use it as an access point , having only a power cable connected to it?
Thanks in advance .

Hi Roger! My name is Marcos!
I have a WAP4410N and a WAG1120n. TheWAG120n is working perfectly, but can not make the WAP4410N act as a repeater. I tried allpossible settings, when I disconnect the network cable and turn on electric power only, does not work. It updated the firmware, I tried everything, butdoes not work. I know he is very good, but it is verydifficult to make it work as a repeater.
I am a systems analyst, programmer and Java, do not know much about wireless networks, only the basics, I live in Brazil, searched forums, all right, but nothing. Can you help me?

Hi Roger,
I have the smaller version of the product(WAP200 access point ), everytime i plug it to the switch the port on the switch becomes disabled
PCRoger says
My guess would be that the unit is shorted out and the switch is protecting itself – but that’s just my guess, sight unseen.

i have connected all four AP they do the same thing, I did the config using the express mode.
am not sure if this is the right way

We are interested in the product , but can u tell the range in meters of the access point. Can i set this single access point to provide wireless internet for a mid size business enterprise with a single ssid and a a single guest ssid
PCRoger says
I think you can get the range from company marketing materials. The thing is, where you locate it means everything. Put it in the center of a building surrounded by steel girders and metal HVAC ductwork and you won’t have much range not matter what product you use.
Sometimes you have to experiment with placement and a smartphone with a WiFi signal app to get the best coverage.

I have a WAP4410N connected to a router but I am not able to get into the set up for the WAP 4410N the address 192.168.1.245 nor the 192.168.1.199. I have tryed in firefox – explore and i google crom. Any reason why it does not work.
PCRoger says
Do you KNOW for sure that you have the correct address? Can you ping it? Is the WAP working?
Head over to my support forum http://FreeComputerConsultant.com/forum and I’ll do my best to help.

We have a Cisco Wap4410n Wireless access point, before the first time installed by the contractor its working after a year and the warranty period is finished our access point we cannot access, i check & tried near on the switch which have short cable we can access but if i use long cable around 10 meters it doest work and you cannot access. We don’t know what exactly the problem when im using long cable. Please i need your professional advice what to do in this access point.
admin says
Can I presume you have tried more than 1 long cable? (Approximately how long is the cable?)
The only way I could see a problem, with good cables, would be if it were on great length (hundreds of feet) and out of category 5 specs; or the cable is passing by some interference that is being picked up on the cable.

i have 5 WAP4410N in my office and having problem with them, laptop & Desktop computers connected though wireless, some computers disconnecting to much and some time computers freezing and not reconnecting until not restarted, what do you thing? please give me a good suggestion and how to setup the channels to have a smooth network? we have around 40 – 45 computers.
i have updated the Software in Version 2.0.6.1 recently.
please Help

I have never had that many in one area. Did someone do a WiFi analysis before installing? If you are using the same band, there is not enough spectrum separation to not have overlap which could be hurting you unless they are all in a somewhat linear layout. You also need to check for other sources of interference

Hi Roger,
Thanks for your video on the WAP4410N. I am in need of your help as I may be a little over my head. I am trying to configure two wireless VLANs using this and the RVS4000. I seem to be configuring the VLANs correctly, but only one of the two has internet access. Can you offer some help or advice?
admin says
That’s typically a gateway issue, maybe tracert would shed some light
You’re way above most if you’re doing VLANs
