Mark your calendars, Windows Phone 7 is expected to debut at a store you could care less about on November 8, 2010.
Sorry, sarcasm is one of my specialties.
Notice the “live tiles” on the home screen; this is everything you care about all in one place – so Microsoft says.
I just don’t see how Windows Mobile, which is known for sluggishness and those inevitable Windows crashes can ever hope to compete with the iPhone and Android.
There are just so many great, free apps for the iPhone and Android and how many for Windows Mobile? Exactly Zero! Sure, that may change, but who is going to waste time and resources writing a free program for such a small market.
The iPhone is so good it can overcome being tied to one of the worst cell phone carriers in the United States – AT&T. And Android is charging up from behind to give Apple a run for the money.
I really love my Droid X from Verizon.

I think Windows Phone 7 is just one big gimmick. I do, on the other hand, think they are headed in the right direction. It at least seems to be an upgrade in the looks department (as far as stability, we will soon find out). Microsoft surely does not expect to win much, if any, market share with this new platform right off the bat, but they do seem to be going the right way with it. While I think it looks sloppy and unrefined, I do think that it is just a first step. Maybe they will learn from mistakes that will undoubtedly be made (they have already regretted the exclusion of copy/paste and have promised it by the first of next year) and at worst they may push Google, Apple, and RIM to start trying even hardware with their software. I still can’t get over how it looks though. Their whole idea about putting a few pieces of the next page to the side so that you will know there is more to look at it just wastes screen space and looks tacky.
Anyway, that’s just my two cents…. :p
